With the recent onset of SARS-CoV-2 variants a deeper understanding is needed of viral genome mutations causing its instability. Whole genome sequencing is the only answer to track existing and identify novel variants. Here at Swift Biosciences, we developed SARS-CoV-2 full genome coverage amplicon based panel and elegant protocol to be used for this purpose.
The coverage of the Spike Gene dropout 69-70, N501Y, E484K, K417N mutations will be discussed: E484K and K417N mutations being characteristic to South African variant, similarly the dropout 69-70 and N501Y being attributed to UK variant only. The viral tracking published study monitoring the first wave of SARS-CoV-2 in Italy will be presented.
Gerardas Dambrauskas is the Director Commercial Operations of Swift Biosciences, EMEA, based in the UK. In this role Gerardas is responsible for sales into UK market and distributor management across EMEA. Gerardas brings over 7 years experience as a scientist and over 14 years experience as a sales executive in various commercial organizations. He has worked for a range of different organizations like Roche, BlueGnome, NanoString. At his current role he develops the sequencing market for next generation library preparation solutions and overseas the expansion of Swift’s technology into new applications of the sequencing market.
